Groom Jen shares her thoughts on the new arrival, Coby.
As he stepped off the horse trailer, I knew I was in for an exciting adventure.
From his arrival as a leggy adolescent youngster, we’ve seen Coby grow and blossom into the beautiful horse he is today. It’s been an amazing ride (pun intended), and he has taken everything in his stride, like a true professional.
We bought Coby (then named Cowboy) from a stables just outside Rotorua at the start of last winter. Claire and I had been looking for potential horses for quite a while, but with none catching our eye, we had started to look further afield. And then Coby came along!
Sired by a beautiful palomino pinto stallion named Piccolo Cowboy, Coby has the presence and personality that stands out from the crowd! He’s taken the coloring from his dad and is a stunning pale palomino standing at 16.1hh.
His loving attitude and relaxed demeanor have made him a great addition to our team of horses. Due to the exposure to different landscapes and terrain, and the amazing all-weather surface arena, we have developed well-rounded horses for the pleasure of guests.
Although he can up the tempo when needed, Coby is happiest cruising along and taking in the sights of the Poronui landscape. In addition to looking after guests and exploring Poronui, he can turn his hoof to flatwork and jumping. He loves to jump!
I’ve loved seeing and helping him develop into the bold and brave horse he is today, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds. Watch this space!
